Due to unforseen circumstances we will no longer be breeding. Please see "Meet the Parents" page for available adults and our nursery page for available puppies.
Welcome to Prodigy Imperial Shih-Tzu, where we only breed for excellence, and for the betterment of the Imperial Shih Tzu breed. We are new small hobby breeders of the Imperial Shih Tzu located in Hagerstown, Maryland. We have raised and loved the Shih Tzu for over 20 years. We fell in love with the Imperial Shih Tzu (Chinese Imperial Dog) in 2007, and took our time doing research and searching for our additional 4 legged family members to begin a program with. Our dogs are our family members and live inside our home and are well socialized by myself, husband, and our children and nephews. They have well balanced temperaments, and play well, and love each other and our guests. Our breeding program will remain very small since our dogs live in our home. We do not believe in raising or breeding dogs in a kennel environment. We breed to conform to the breed standard for Shih Tzu, less size. We breed for top quality, correct conformation, smushy baby doll faces, cobby, compact but sturdy bodies, excellent health, and the sweetest of temperaments. Our goal is to be known as the top producer of show quality Imperial Shih Tzu's. We will only be producing one or two litters per year. We would never breed a dog with known genetic defects and have conducted medical tests on our breeding females to ensure breed-ability and to eliminate the threat of serious genetic defects and require the same of our chosen studs. Only studs which have met our high standards are ever considered for our program. We encourage anyone interested in one of our little babies to come and visit our home and see how spoiled our furry family members are. We will be extremely picky in choosing homes for our family members offspring. We have spent considerable time and money to ensure that only the very best imperial Shih Tzu's are produced and expect only the very best for their offspring, our "grandbabies". Breeding rights are rarely given. The health and safety of our dogs and their babies is our #1 priority.
